Finals

#2 Straight Shots vs #4 Magic Pool
Regular Season Meetings: Week 2 - 5-0 MP & Week 9 3-2 SS

Straight Shots were able to defeat a solid EPC squad this past week because their players rose to the occasion. Magic Pool were able to defeat the top team all season long in nine games (Freedoms final 2 players apparently had to rush to leave), but with all that aside we see a finals match up no one would have predicted.

Nigel & company will be coming into the match as the streaking favourites, with players like Nick, Shannon, Nish, Jay & Sail leading the way. Nigel has been able to depend upon those 5 the most all season and they'll need to continue the streak this weekend to give SS GIT's first championship.

Chris & company on paper are the favourites, and after last week's performance they should be the favourites, but after a slump at the end of the season dropped them to 4th, Chris will be behind the 8 ball with his match ups. If Chris is smart and doesn't pull a Dina, Chris will be able to count on Jordy for two break n runs, with himself, Anil, Andy & yes, even Joe to try and pick up a few wins. Captaining an away team in such a vital game is always tough, but if Chris can pick up on any of Nigels tendencies (like this little cowboy) then Magic Pool should be able to win the second straight interleague title to start off 2010.

Prediction - 5-3 MP

Round 1

What a finish to the regular season! We saw Freedom snap out of their slump to pick up the W against MIB to finish first in the season after a big late-season collapse. SS were able to defeat UO 4-1 to jump to second, while EPC cleaned BP out 5-0 to finish third. In the match of the, SP needed to clean out MP to make the playoffs but were only able to win 3-2, leaving them in fifth. On behalf of the admins and myself, I think it's safe to say the first regular season was a success and we thank those from Sexy Poolerz, Brit Pool, Ultimate Outlaws & Money in the Bank for their successful season, but now we turn to four remaining teams..

#1 Freedom [9-5 - 44-26] vs #4 Magic Pool [8-6 - 39-31]
Streak entering the playoffs:
Freedom - +1
Magic Pool - -2

Regular Season Scores:
Week 5 - 4-1 Freedom & Week 12 - 4-1 Magic Pool

Top player performances:
Freedom - ___deuce (soccergod #1) - 9-3, I_Am_Almost_God - 8-1 & ll_eskimo_ownage_ll - 8-3
Magic Pool - xlx_skill_xlx - 6-1, xCHRISx - 6-2 & RiffRaff20 - 2-7

Mister Predictors Ideal Line-up:
Freedom - Corey (2), Craig (2), Adam (2) Jason (The Wild-Card Machine) (1), Ash (1), Petey (1)
Magic Pool - Jordy (2), Chris (2), Anil (2), Andy (2), Ian (1)

What this match will come down to is if Freedom will be able to execute unlike how they did in their IPA playoffs with a similar line-up. On paper you think Freedom should sweep this, especially with the way Magic Pool are slumping, but this is Y!Pool after all. Freedom need to push for an early lead and let Jason toy around with the wild cards, giving MP an unideal attempt of using their star players to lessen the lead. If MP are able to able to jump out of the gates with a win, they'll need to close it, quickly. There is a reason Freedom have so many players up in the MVP list and if anyone gives them an open door, there will be more then one rushing to get in. Corey's a front runner for MVP, Craig wants real bad MVP, Adam was an MVP in IPA, Ash was an MVP in UIC, Petey may be an MVP in UIC.. Hard to combat that in my eyes.

Prediction - 5-2 Freedom

#2 Straight Shots [9-5 - 41-29] vs #3 Extreme Pool Competitors [9-5 - 38-32]

Streak entering the playoffs:
Straight Shots - +2
Extreme Pool Competitors - +3

Regular Season Scores:
Week 5 - 5-0 EPC & Week 12 - 3-2 EPC

Top player performances:
Straight Shots - Nick_18__ - 9-2, SailDude99 - 5-2, & nullified - 4-2
Extreme Pool Competitors - l3lack_jesus - 7-2, i_hate_th1s_game - 7-4, & l1_stephen_1 - 4-0

Mister Predictors Ideal Line-up:
Straight Shots - Nick (2), SailDude (2), Shannon (2), Kev (1), Nish (1), Chris (1)
Extreme Pool Competitors - Timm (2), James (2), Ant (2), Stephen (2), Jack (1)

If Jack can get a team similar of that above to the table, he will win. Otherwise he'll be scrambling. SS will have more then enough players to choose from, so who knows who Nigel will call, would not be surprised if he calls 9 individuals if it gets that far, Timm on the other hand has a short roster, but knows its talented. Many of EPC's players are a lock for at least a 1-1 record, others good for that 2-0. This match could very well go all 9 games as both sides are very well matched up, with both teams having multiple key players. Nigel will need to play Nick smartly as he would be able to give Nigel 2 good wins and Nick will be able to move him self up his MVP standings some more, or wait..

Prediction - 5-3 EPC

Just toying with you Nick, it's a great read!

Week 14

Here we are, 14 weeks since the start of GIT. Many doubted, many believed, but in the end GIT was a success in its first season and it is far from over. With the MVP race up in the air for a number of people heading into the playoffs, and the playoffs themselves being a mess, the regular should shape up to be one hell of a first season with the playoffs and its crazy 9v9 format sure to bring the intensity up a notch. So how could the results of this week pan out into the standings?

  • Any of the current top 4 teams can finish first.
  • With a 5-0 SP victory, SP could do as well as finish 2nd in the standings but guarantee themselves a spot in the playoffs.
  • If MP get shut-out by SP, they could very well miss the playoffs.
  • With a big Freedom loss for yet another week, the #1 team all season long could drop to 4th.
  • Even with a Magic Pool victory, Joe still will have cooties.
  • All of this could be meaningless as the top 4 could remain completely unchanged.

Interesting? I thought so..

Brit Pool vs Extreme Pool Competitors
After a thumping by SP, BP should forget all about it as they face their favourite guy, Jack. It was only 7 weeks ago this very BP squad shut EPC out 5-0, and Trey would love to do it once again I'm sure. For EPC, this match is simple, win and you're in. Will winning be that simple though? It should be, Jack has been able to get a full team to the table more often then not lately and will be pushing his players to do the same this week in a crucial match, in which he seeks vengeance, and playoffs :)

Prediction - 4-1 EPC

Money in the Bank vs Freedom
MIB were romped by EPC this past week and know in order to avenge their original 5-0 loss to Freedom, they'll have to figure something out. Freedom, needs this win, badly. Flying high all season long, then out of no where 3 losses in a row and now their back where they don't want to be, tied with everyone else. With Craig announcing he's done for the season after his first loss, Petey will need to figure something out with a thin roster, but has all the capabilities to win it. A thin roster wont hurt as much come playoff time, with Freedoms roster focus being on quality rather then quantity, their key players will have a chance to win more then just once giving them a good chance come playoff time, but until the playoffs come around, they'll need to win this otherwise there wont be any morale for this squad..

Prediction - 3-2 Freedom

Straight Shots vs Ultimate Outlaws
Nigel & company took a big step last week defeating Freedom 4-1, giving themselves a shot to finish first over all after a very slow start. Nigel has his key players playing at the right time which he'll need against an upset-minded UO squad. While Rebs & company were able to defeat a MP team last week, they know their 4-1 loss to SS in the first meeting was big, as they had pretty much played their top 5 and still lost. UO are streaking though and a 3rd straight win against a top opponent sure is possible..

Prediction - 3-2 UO

Magic Pool vs Sexy Poolerz
Chris was unable to get the team he wanted last week against UO and had to result to playing players he might not have given the chance this late in the season, resulting in a big 3-2 loss to UO. While MP still control their own destiny, the pressure is on. The last time these 2 met, SP cleaned them out winning 4-1. Pete's known for a while hes playing catch-up and even with a big 4-1 win over BP, SP will need a loss by EPC or SS to jump into the playoffs, unless of course they blank MP! Both sides for the past week or 2 haven't been able to get their ideal squad to the table, this week, that's what it'll come down too.

Prediction - MP 3-2

Week 13

Sexy Poolerz [#5 - 6-6] vs Brit Pool [#6 - 5-7]
Coming off what may be their toughest loss of the season, SP are definitely behind the 8 ball now needing to win out and hope for at least 1 SS or EPC loss. This week is definitely a must win for Pete & company otherwise their playoff chances are just about done. For BP, they'd love to spoil a party, with Drew bringing all the old guys back, BP should be able to do just that if SP aren't careful.

Prediction - 3-2 SP

Ultimate Outlaws [#7 - 5-7] vs Magic Pool [#2 - 8-4]
A big upset last week for UO as they spoiled what should have been a win for SP and made their playoff chances a bit slimmer. UO can spoil another party against MP this week and will need the same type of performances from the likes of Dwayne, Charles and Ryan to do so. MP have picked up their performance and with the help of Freedom trying to win with 4 players to make it "fairer", they've been able to tie them for first, falling behind by Freedoms win/loss. With SP to follow this week, MP will need to come out strong and grab a win if they look to try and snag first from Freedom..

Prediction - 3-2 MP

Freedom [#1 - 8-4] vs Straight Shots [#3 - 7-5]
Two straight losses, how? Why? In both their of their back to back losses, they haven't had a 5th which was super costly against SP 2 weeks prior with Peteys tape DQ, but had lost 3 games last week against MP making a 5th "pointless", but how is a league that is slowly getting back on its feet failing to have players show? Who knows, but with them still not having first place solidified, they better jump back to their winning ways otherwise this season was a big waste. For SS, they wasted a 2-1 lead against EPC last week and fell 3-2, dropping a key win. They control their own fate, and end the season with UO, but should aim for 2 wins as SP is capable of doing the same and jumping SS for the final playoff spot.

Prediction - Freedom 3-2

Extreme Pool Competitors [#4 - 7-5] vs Money in the Bank [#8 - 2-10]
Coming off a big 3-2 win over SS that not only puts EPC back into a playoff spot with a cushion, but a great chance at jumping over SS into third which could set up a great final week. Looking ahead to the playoffs, EPC have depth issues but if the likes of Timm & James can show up, it'll at least guarantee Jack a competitive bunch. For MIB they seem to still be missing that extra push to get them over the hump in GIT as they feel to BP by one game. With so many close matches to all these top teams, EPC & FR hopefully do not take MIB as a pushover to finish the season as it could ruin what they've worked for so hard the entire season.

Prediction - 4-1 EPC

Clinched a play-off spot / Holding a play-off spot / chasing a play-off spot / eliminated from play-off contention

Week 12

Roses are red,

violets are blue.
They call me Mr. Pred,
& Joe smells like poo!

Brit Pool [#6 - 4-7] vs Money in the Bank
[#8 - 2-9]
Both their seasons have been somewhat pooey. BP were able to eliminate UO from playoff contention last week with a 3-2 win, giving BP a bit of a boost as they are now the top non-playoff team, for now. Bringing a couple of new players who helped with their UIC run did the trick last week, and will look to do the same this week against an MIB squad who seem to be pushing everyone to the limits. While they lost in game 4 to SS, MIB could've won a few more games if luck hinted in their favour. MIB have quite a bit of talent now, and should give EPC & FR a few scares in their final 2 weeks, but for now, they need to beat up on the Brit-less Brit Poolers.

Prediction - 3-2 BP

Straight Shots
[#3 - 7-4] vs Extreme Pool Competitors [#4 - 6-5]
With their victory over MIB last week, and EPC's loss to MP, SS were able to leap frog EPC in the standings make this 3-4 match-up, easily the most meaningful this week. A win here for SS will almost assure them a spot in the playoffs and would put EPC in a whole heap of trouble, a win here for EPC though, would make a mess of the standings, and that's what people like me would love to see. SS are coming in on fire with 5 straight wins, and will look to use that to their advantage as last time these two teams hooked up, EPC shut them out. EPC are in a bit of a free fall but have the talent to stop the bleeding and stay in playoff contention with SP hot on their heels.

Prediction - 3-2 EPC

Magic Pool
[#2 - 7-4] vs Freedom [#1 - 8-3]
How is a 1 vs 2 not the match of the week? Simple, no matter the result, Freedom will continue to be atop the table, and MP's position just depends on how they do relative to SS. MP's schedule for the remainder of the season is almost identical in strength to SS's, the next 15 individual match-up's will be key. Freedom are coming off a tough loss to SP last week as the deciding factor in the match was the fact Freedom's captain had his tape stop recording half way through the match. After viewing the tape, I really feel behind in technology because I have no clue what happened, but instead of going into the shoulda, woulda & coulda's about it all, it's a good thing Freedom had built up a great lead through 10 weeks of the season, and while they still haven't clinched a playoff spot, they have a tough schedule ahead so they need to refocus, including Craig who needs to think about the team instead of ranting about a blog about MVP's in the shoutbox..

Prediction - 3-2 Freedom

Sexy Poolerz
[#5 - 6-5] vs Ultimate Outlaws [#7 - 4-7]
Coming off a massive win over Freedom to keep their playoff hopes alive, SP look to start a run against a struggling UO squad. For one reason or another, UO havn't been able to finish matches off in GIT. With their loss against BP last week, UO have been ousted out of playoff contention and now get to play the roll of spoiler, and with the tools to do such, an upset over SP is possible, and would crush SP's playoff hopes.

Prediction - 3-2 SP

Week 11

The blog of the season hands down. There are colours, big words, another language, a hint at gay action, and even some praise from Nigel himself. The only thing missing is Joe's resignation letter, sorry I couldn't do it all folks!

Ultimate Outlaws [#6 - 4-6] vs Brit Pool [#7 - 3-7]
Both sides are glad to have had that long break since their last match as they were both thumped, and while only one has an outside chance at making the playoffs, this should be a great match-up. UO are that team with the outside chance of making the playoffs with SP, MP & SS to follow this week, and they have the talent to do so. Following a strong victory in UIC to give themselves a 2 game cushion over 2nd place SS, Rebs & company will look to bring the same sort of "heat" against an underachieving BP squad, who may turn it around. With some of the new players who hopped on the ban wagon leaving, it seems BP have only one thing to resort to, the old guys. Yes, the same guys who brought you the Cinderella run in UIC just last season should slowly be making a return to give BP back their status as a grinder team you don't want to face.

Prediction - 3-2 UO

Freedom [#1 - 8-2] vs Sexy Poolerz [#5 - 5-5]
Six matches ago, these two teams went to the wire with fierce matches all the way, including a game 5 that left the players on both sides heated and got the admins involved who kept the match as is [Something to do with a cam tape more then likely!]. With both sides friendly outside of matches and fierce competitors, everything will be dropped in their mind at 2pm apart from who they play for and winning. A victory here for Freedom will clinch a first place finish and will set SP back as they could be two wins out of the playoffs [pending win/loss]. SP are coming into this match on a major cold streak losing their past 3 matches, how? Probably because their MVP in Pete hasn't been to any of those 3 matches. Will Pete return for a little Pete on Pete action? Or will the streaks continue for both sides?

Prediction - 3-2 Freedom

Extreme Pool Competitors [#4 - 6-4] vs Magic Pool [#2 - 6-4]
Coming off their biggest win of the season, EPC were able to stay in the thick of things as they turned away SP and continue to stay in a tie for second place, albeit they're still in 4th due to the lovely win/loss ratio. While their 2 victories over Freedom were very impressive, the fact Jack was able to have a team in a must-win match [or they fall a game behind for the playoffs with a touch schedule] and be able to win it, sure says a lot about the new character Jack has turned into. MP on the other hand, are an interesting case. Sometimes they'll be strong, sometimes not, it doesn't depend on who they're playing or in what situation, they just collectively have off weeks, which cant be good if you plan to go deep in the playoffs. With the season winding down, the deciding factor is usually hunger, and who wants it more, and with Jack showing new improved characteristics, his ferocious hunger still lingers.

Prediction - 3-2 EPC

Money in the Bank [#8 - 2-8] vs Straight Shots [#3 - 6-4]
At first glance, this match seems pretty straight forward. The not-so-good MIB squad vs the SS squad who seems to suddenly be taking this seriously, au contraire! UIC showed us that there was one spill over from the PRO/MLP MIB squad that wanted to play for MIB else where, and I wouldn't be surprised if a few more took interest in GIT [As Rich would love to push the idea]. Pushing their way to the top is exactly what SS are doing as Nigel is "enjoying it more" here in GIT, as he should, GIT is fantastic after all! Since he realised that, he's mentioned "We are taking GIT more seriously, for sure. I've found a small squad of decent players for GIT who are happy to play each week, rather than just give anyone a game which more or less was the case early on. And the improvement in results shows that we are aiming for the play-offs at the very least." And the playoffs are something you very well should achieve. He believes his squad has a great shot at beating anyone without trouble, apart from one team I'm sure he holds close to his heart, but I'm sure he'll have something to say about that come their match-up! Until then, expect Nigel to keep the W's rolling for his squad.

Prediction - 4-1 SS

Holding a play-off spot / chasing a play-off spot / eliminated from play-off contention
